Advertize Via Your Virtual Assistant Business Card

by Di Chapman

Using companies such as Vistaprint, you can get business cards for the cost of postage. This almost free item can become one of the major parts of your VA marketing system.

Design a ’sticky’ Business Card that the recipient never wants to give away!

By ’sticky’ we mean a card that someone wants to keep. The best way to do this is to use the blank side which is very cost effective advertising.

Cards I have kept have one thing in common, they are really useful.

* Appointment cards from hairdressers or anyone else you make an appointment with on a regular basis. A simple calendar that they can just tick the date.

* I also found the calendar very useful so I put it into the plastic wallet in my purse. The amount of times someone asked me for the name of a dentist and I just pulled out the card and they copied his details – it was a great marketing device but so simple.

* Do you do any work with set dates for submission, monthly client newsletters, tax submission dates? Mark up the calendar with these dates.

* I used a hairdresser in the UK for many years. One January she produced her new business cards which opened like a little booklet. I had one discount for being a loyal client and another if I changed the date of my appointment to one of those highlighted in the calendar. Obviously she had worked out her slack days and was using this method to fill them.

How can a Virtual Assistant use Business Cards to drum up more work?

Your Business Mission Statement is important. Add to that a short list of services you offer and your prospective client will know exactly what you can offer.

Make a money off offer or a free half hour of work so they can check out your services.

If you specialise in Digital Audio Transcription, you can put hints and tips on the back of your card as this topic is a minefield for the client and worker.

Put a good testimonial on the back of your card, it will be worth its weight in gold.

Don’t follow the herd. Try to make your card stand out and something other business people want to keep.

What I am saying is that you need to be that bit different. There are billions of cards out there, how can you make yours stand out. I have suddenly noticed that here in France all medicines are having their names in Braille on the boxes. I have no idea how difficult this would be to put on your card but it would make your card stand out and be another step towards accessibility.

Famous Quotes

There are many words and phrases that mean a lot to us, putting one on the back of your card would make it memorable.

The outcome is to be remembered

When the time comes to empty out your briefcase, purse or just a pocket full of business cards that you got at a networking meeting, if you are like me you give them the once over before deciding what to do with them. They all go into my CRM database BUT the ones with the interesting information then go into my card book and not the bin. If I am looking for a service I go to the card book and start there. The calendar goes into my purse etc and is used most days.

With the ability to buy 250 cards at a time and pay just a little more for printing on the back, you could make this one of your marketing ploys. You could send your new cards to your current clients to see what they think. Thinking about this, send 2 or 3 and ask them to pass the others on. Then you hand out your new card to those you know already have the old one. This will stick in their minds and they will remember you and your Virtual Assistant Company.
