by Dawson Z. Hardy

The days of “a job for life” have gone. On average people change their job at least seven times in their working life and this rate is increasing. Fortunately with the advent of the internet and on the internet employment agencies changing jobs has never been easier. Now you can make you resume visible to hundreds of prospective employers. The trick lies in finding the on the internet employment agency that is right for you.

Just make a search for “employment agencies” in Google, Yahoo or any search engine you like and you’ll find thousands if not millions of links pointing to sites where you can search for jobs abroad. In this brief article I will mention just three of them.

Look for jobsabroad.com. This employment agency specializes in job searching on a worldwide basis. Just check out some of the countries listed. Virtually each country in the world from Andorra to Zambia. Their list of vacancies include volunteer work, long term contracts and short term assignments. They also include information about the countries concerned together with advice on travelling documents needed such as work permits and visas.

Another great on the internet employment bureau hot.jobs.yahoo.com but you do need a yahoo.com account in order to tap its full potential. Again, it has a lot of useful job hunting information and is the base for a number of Yahoo user groups related to employment.

Then there’s monster.com which as its name recommends is a monster of an employment agency. But don’t worry, its a friendly monster! They offer job searches in many countries and also have sites that a specific to particular countries. For example Canada is covered by monster.ca and Britain by monster.co.uk

Submitting your resume to any of these sites is simple. Following approval they will place it in their database which is searchable by employers looking for employees. If your resume is chosen by an employer then the employment agency will then contact you.

Obviously you can apply directly for any job that’s posted on the website. Just submit a resume and covering letter as well and the agency will do the rest.

As with everything online, be careful when submitting your details. It has been found that quite a few sites posing as online employment agencies are in fact fronts for criminals engaging in identity theft.
