Which Types Of Leadership Do You Use?
When it comes to the different leadership approaches, there are lots of kinds. But for the most part, there are primarily two definitions.
When most people think of a leader, they picture someone who is very well known and the head of a group. We might also tend to consider someone who is the best in sports or business. Tiger Woods leads the way in golf, while Apple products practically rule the portable music industry.
However, there’s a lot more to leadership than just someone who’s leading a group, a business, or leading in sports. People usually give orders when they’re trying to lead a group of people, or they might do underhanded things to trick people into following their lead.
Thanks to the more shady types, people learn to be careful around “leaders.” They’re not interested in letting someone trick or take advantage of them.
There are different types of leadership to pursue, but you need to stay away from anything that involves deceit and mistrust. Your credibility is shattered once your followers realize you’re deceiving them.
Developing trust in your followers demands integrity. This means that you’ll do what you say you’ll do – you will walk the speak.
A common mistake that many leaders are guilty of is making promises they can’t keep. That’s why you should be very careful about what you say to your followers.
People won’t be turned off by someone who is cautious with promises. They know you’ll only make commitments you keep. Since they have the ability to trust that you won’t back out of your promises, they will be superior followers as a result.
For example, if you were to promise a subordinate that you’re going to give them a raise next year that is a problem.
Giving raises in most cases is out of a person’s hands, especially if you don’t know how the company will do throughout the year. It may be superior to approach a raise with your followers reaching sales goals.
Sometimes it can be very inconvenient to keep your promises. Nonetheless, even if they’re inconvenient, it will only benefit you to keep them. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to back out of your commitment, you’ll need to apologize and find an acceptable compromise.
All types of leadership need a core of integrity. The most successful leaders are those who show integrity.
