The Persistence Factor In Virtual Assistant Marketing.

by Di Chapman

Doing something on a regular basis becomes a habit. A habit becomes simple as you do it so often. If you can make your Virtual Assistant Marketing a half hour habit a day your business will take off. If you don’t market at all your business will wither and die.

There is a easy and easy method of marketing that most marketers forget to tell you about.

The major trick is The Persistence Factor.

You might wonder what that’s. Well it goes like this:

* Monday could be the day you contact a couple of clients who you’ve not worked with for a while to see how they and their businesses are. Just a polite enquiry is enough to remind them that you’re still there and it is extraordinary how often that turns into work.

* On Tuesday send that interesting article you cut out of a magazine to any relevant clients with a note that you hope that it is useful

* I say Wednesday for this item but Networking meetings happen on most days of the week. If you get invited go along armed with business cards. Listen to what is being stated, take any business cards offered and use the back to make notes on what was stated and exactly what they do.

* On Thursday phone some clients to ensure the work is going well or any previous work was satisfactory. If there were not any problems, ask for a testimonial and also more work if you have space in your diary.

* On Friday write all this up in your diary. See if you need to contact anyone else this week and make notes for next week. Track any new work you may have got directly from this week’s actions.

What you’ve done there is – apart from the networking meeting – contacted current or prospective clients in a matter of state an hour a day. You’ve made them remember you and you’ve ’stirred the pot’.

Now comes the real trick – you need to do this on a weekly basis.

Look at your week’s diary and see how many people you have contacted. Now multiply that by 48 weeks of the year. The amount of marketing you’re doing is big, yet you are spending a few hours a week doing it. People will come to know your name and the name of your business. They will also know what you do and so your likelihood of getting work grows with each week.

Let’s go further afield

I’m not joking. I’ve got work by going to World wide web Forums that my clients told me about. I’ve learnt more about their business and got work from other consultants.

I have also joined overseas VA forums and made friends there. I spend about 10 minutes a day on forums and take their daily mails.

So back to stage one. Get out that diary or Outlook and write down your marketing task for every day next week. Make sure it is something you’re going to enjoy. If you don’t like cold calling – don’t do it. I hate it.

The habit of doing something every day at the same time is something that many famous writers and artists have done. If you don’t make your advertising a habit you will not do it, there will always be something else to do.

If success and a good career as a VA is what you are looking for then be organised in your marketing and you’ll be surprised how easy virtual assistant marketing really is.
