Why Some Are Happy And Some Are Miserable

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Marci Shimoff, one of the most successful self-help book authors for women, is the author of “Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul”, “Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul”, “Happy for No Reason”, and is a contributing author of the highly successful book, “The Secret”.

Aside from her impressive writing career, Marci has been made famous by her appearances in other types of media. She has appeared on more than 500 shows for radio and TV, she has been featured in more than 100 newspapers, and her articles have been featured in popular women’s magazines including “Ladies’ Home Journal” and “Woman’s World”.

The Transformational Leadership Council helps millions of people throughout the world. Marci co-founded it and serves as a board member because she’s so passionate about the motivation and development of others. It’s been her lifelong dream.

Marci has known since the 1970’s that she wanted to make a career out of professional talking. Back in 1970, most people had never even heard of a career in public speaking. Why would anyone want to talk for a living? Marci wasn’t discouraged, though. In fact, her dad was the one who told her to do whatever would make her happy.

To Marci Shimoff, success and happiness aren’t the same thing. There are lots of highly successful people in the world, people with millions of dollars in net worth, but they aren’t truly fulfilled. Being successful isn’t what makes them tick.

Fancy automobiles, jets, estate homes, and things like that are popular among rich people, but have you noticed how many of them are only happy when they use their money to help people rather than buy more “stuff”? Perhaps it’s because the “stuff” can be lost, stolen, broken, or destroyed. Benefits to society are a way to get the “pay it forward” ball rolling, though.

The “Forbes Wealthiest People in America” list states that wealthy people are 40% less happy than average Americans. Does that statistic surprise you? Marci wrote “Happy for No Reason” to help people see the bigger photos. Money isn’t the answer just as success isn’t the answer.

What about the old line, “I’ll be happy when…”? When what? When I lose 10 pounds? When I get a better job? “I’ll be happy when…” isn’t the answer to happiness. Happiness comes from within, so people who are looking around them for something to make them happy will never really be happy. Only those who are content with the here and now will be happy.
